What is CrossFit?

A general physical preparedness program designed to prepare you for the unknown and unknowables in life. Using functional movements (everyday life movements) , that are constantly varied, done at high intensity. This program is taught in a group atmosphere and each class is coached by a Certified Level 1 CrossFit trainer to ensure proper technique, form and a level of intensity to maximize results each visit. No fancy gym equipment at this facility just barbells, kettle-bells, dumbbells, pull up bars, jump boxes, gymnastic rings and medicine balls.  We will kick your butt each and every workout, and leave you wanting more regardless of your size, shape, age or ability.

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. CrossFit delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports and life reward this kind of fitness.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience, whether you are an elderly individual with heart disease or a top athlete. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

Getting Started

The first step to getting started is to CALL/E-MAIL and schedule your first free workout. The next step after your first workout is to sign up for the Fundamentals Class or Personal Training. Every athlete must complete the Fundamentals course before joining the group classes. The course is scheduled for 4 sessions in no more than two weeks. During the sessions you will be introduced to the philosophy of CrossFit, warm-up fundamentals, nutrition basics, and taught the essential movements needed to safely and successfully join our community.

Everything we do at Ketchikan CrossFit focuses on quality of instruction, safety, technique and form. Therefore, graduation from the Fundamentals Class will be required for entry into our main classes.

The Fundamentals program is curriculum-based and emphasizes exposure to basic movements, correct form, proper technique, full range of motion, intensity, & skill development. There is a workout at the end of each training session. The difficulty of these workouts is ultimately in your hands, the degree that you push yourself will determine your workout intensity.

Included in the curriculum: squat, front squat, overhead squat, press, push press, push jerk, thruster, deadlift, sumo deadlift high pull, kettlebell swing, box jump, wall ball, clean, and snatch. List is not all-inclusive.
